Karen,
>> Can anyone tell me where Barony, Gorbals & Bridgeton are located? I
have a
pretty good map of Scotland, but can't find any of these places in Glasgow.
<<
Barony is an ancient parish in Lanark, which is located to the NW of
modern central Glasgow.
The Gorbals is a district, once notorious for its tenement slums, to the
south of the central city close by Ibrox.
Bridgeton is in the south-east of the central city, between Parkhead to
the north and Rutherglen, across the river.
You must recall that Glasgow has twice undergone major reconstructions; in
the Victorian creation of the city and in the 1980s and 1990s. Much has
changed.
Yours aye, Iain
in Windsor, Berkshire
