Karen and Linda,
Do you think that one of the main reasons people tended to marry within
their own congregations, etc. was that the church was the center of their
social life and that would be where young people would meet and become
acquainted?

The members of the Reformed church in Oakdale, Ill have been very helpful
to me. They do not have their earlier records, however, as some zealous
housekeeper threw them out long ago, but they have tried for me.

Sometimes the minutes of meetings of the Church deacons can be useful and
they are nearly always kept in a safe somewhere. Tending to the church's
business.
