I don't think I find anything unusual in this '3 brothers' thing.

A small family would tend to stay put - with the sons inheriting the family
living.

Big families cause a pressure to move onwards. Families of 6, 7 or 8 or more
would be common.

With 2 male children they both would probably stay put. 3 sons - one might want
to move but would be on his own with equal pressure on the middle son to move
or stay.

Wnen you get to 4 brothers the pressure to move would be great. If two younger
brothers are definitely going - the pressure on the second to go too would be
strong: 3 brothers somehow is a nice number: it would feel secure. 5 male
children splits 2 and 3. More male children probably are less common.

So I think a lot of family migrations may well have been started by 3 brothers
and it was probably too common to be worth much attention!
