Good Evening John,
The Celtic habit of fighting in the nude carried over, so I was
told, to World War One. The Scot Highlanders went into battle against
the German soldiers who became completely unnerved when the kilt clad
Scot soldiers, in the heat of battle, whipped off their kilts and fought the
prudish German forces totally nude. The German's bestowed the name
"Ladies From Hell" on their adversaries. Take care and Keep Looking UP.

I appreciate the vivid image of those raging naked Celts furious in battle.
There are a number of Renaissance painters who depicted these battles of
the Romans and the Galli.

I now know what is meant by the Scottish proverb:

There are two things a Hieland man likes naked, and one of them is malt
whisky.

The other, obviously, is ... warfare:-)

John Giacoletti
