Hi all,
Does anyone know why there was such an immigration of settlers from
Scotland and Ireland in the 1820's to the English River and Norton Creek
Districts of Chateauquay, Quebec, Canada? My ancestor, HAMILTON LEITH
(b.1818 in Ireland) and his wife, MARION CURRIE (b. 1819 in Scotland)
were said to have been "by the shores of Lake Memphremagog" in 1847
when my ggrfather, THOMAS BISHOP LEITH was born.
Anyone have any connection to this location? Or to this LEITH line?
TIA
Cynthia
