Thanks. Also, there's the Phillip Sutherlin in Putnam County, Marsha's
Phillip, about the same age as our Orange County Philip. Get's confusing,
but it makes me think that they may have had a cousin link, being that they
often reused family names of their fore fathers, etc. I can only wonder.

Mark,
Three orphan sons of George Southerland are named in a document as having
claim on 300 acres of Indiana land in 1699. They were Joseph, Philip &
George.
Joseph married Mary Fendall and this is where the Fendall Southerland line
apparently started.
Very little is know as to what happened to this Philip Southerland.
Many people speculate that our Philip was a grandson of George the orphan
thru his son Samuel, however, I have ruled this out.
