In a message I sent last December, I listed the following entry from the
1900 Census of Tulare Co., CA:

We find here Charles W. Sutherlin, age 66, farmer, born in MO, father born
in VA, mother born in IN, with
wife Mary E., daughter May, son Robert M. and farm laborer Bert Gross from
MO.

In going back in my file I find that this is most certainly Charles Wesley
Sutherlin, son of Isham V. Sutherlin. His age, name of wife etc. fit but
there are some conflicts with data in my file.

This Census reports that his father was born in VA, but I have Isham's birth
place as Stokes Co., NC. Did Charles not know where his father was born or
do I have an error here.

I have the daughter as Addie May b. 1877 which corresponds OK with the age
listed as 22 in 1900.
However, I have the son Robert Montgomery's birth date as being 15 Sep 1850,
and by this census is should be 1880 or 1881 which is more realistic with
the ages I have listed for his children - as well as for the age of Charles
W. at the time of his birth. I do not know where I got the 1850 date, but
I intend to change his birth date to c. 1888.

I don't know who descends from this line, but can anyone clear up these
discrepancies?
