Hi! I just cam across the most recent messages re DD. His wife was Hannah
Sullivan, the daughter of Philip Sullivan and Mary Sullivan(?). Hannah was
born in Wareham, Mass., on August 16, 1848. She was an older sister of my GGM,
Catherine Sullivan, who married my GGF, Quinlan Shea. My principal source on
the DD Sullivan family was DD's grandson, the late Rev. Daniel D. Sullivan, my
2C1R.
He told me that, according to "family tradition", before his father Jim Ed
married Jennie Murphy, three generations of his male Sullivan ancestors had
married women named Sullivan. DD certainly did, and it seems likely from what I
have that Philip's wife, Mary, was in fact a Sullivan. I have no leads to
Philip's parents. There were five Sullivan sisters: Mary, the oldest, was born
in Ireland in 1846(?), Hannah was #2,
Ellen was #3, my Catherine was #4, and Margaret was #5. I can flesh out
parts of this of any interest. Need I even add that I will appreciate receiving
any information on this family? Feel free to contact me directly. Regards and
Merry Christmas,
Quinlan Shea
