I don't know if anyone is aware of the fact that the LDS Church just put
a number of IGI documents on its website www.familysearch.com, and that
it is a wealth of information on the Strobel clan from the Black Sea
area of Russia, which is where my husband's family originated. I found
my husbands grandparents, great-grandparents, great-great-grandparents,
and great-great-great-grandparents, on this website. Now for the hard
work of documenting all of the information, as the information in the
IGI hasn't been verified by the LDS Church as being accurate. But it is
a place to start.
My husband's family is as follows:
Grand-father:
Johannes Georg Strobel b. 3/10/1892 in Beresina Village Russia
m. Johanna Brietling on 10/30/1906
Johannes was the son of:
Gottleib Strobel b. 12/28/1851 in Beresina Village Russia
m. Friedricka Motz 11/29/1873
Gottleib was the son of:
Martin Strobel (Jr.) b. 1812 in Beresina Village Russia
m. Christina Barbara Hahn 11/16/1832
Martin was the son of:
Martin Strobel (Sr.) b ~1794 in Germany (whereabouts unknown)
m. Christina Kibler/Kubler ~1814
I know there is a question about the birthdate of Martin Jr. and the
marriage date of his parents; just one of the questions that needs to be
researched.
I would be interested in sharing any information that I have with other
Strobels. I am also interested in any information on the artist, Oscar
Strobel, as I just purchased one of his watercolors.
Thanks for your help.
