Adolphus M. Strain b. ca 1817 SC and married to Mary Waters in Habersham
County, GA July 25/1817 were ?? my great grandparents. They died at a very
young age (35 and 31) from typhoid about 1855, Stamp Creek, Cass Co., GA.
They had 4 or 5 sons, they were:
John Wesley b. SC or GA 1840 -
James A. b. GA 1842 KIA -Civil War
William A. b. GA ca 1844-45- went west? ALA
McDonald (Donald) b. GA 1846 ??? KIA Civil War
Along with Adolphus M. and Mary, these 4 sons appear on the 1850 Stamp Creek,
Cass County (now Bartow Co). GA.
In Walker Co., GA, very near to one of James and Catherine's sons, Benjamin
Franklin Strain and William who was said to be Benjamin Franklin Strain's
first cousin, my gf Adolphus Middleton was already in the Robert Hardbarger's
household according to the 1850 Walker Co., GA census. According to family
history, my great gparents died young from typhoid, the Hardbargers (very
close friends) raised my gf but the older brothers gave him to the hardbargers
to raise and went west. I found the descendant of William Adolphus Strain in
ALA which isn't very far away but west of the area where they were when their
parents died. They are like me, they know very little about the family
background. I would like to find anyone with this information. There must be
some descendants of John W or other Strains from this area. Please e-mail me
direct to Thanks. Betty
Adolphus Middleton Strain b. GA 1847, my gather/ died ca 1901-2 in Bartow Co.,
GA
Adolphus M. appeared in GA around the same time James and Catherine Stroup
Strain came to GA. Both worked for the Stroup Iron Works and I believe they
were in some way related but not one of Jame's and Catherine's children. I
have their children's names. I found my gf, Adolphus in the
