StLGS Volunteer Opportunities
=============================
The Society is run by volunteers from the officers to the office
staff. They are appreciated and more are needed:
Here are some opportunities for those who want to participate in
this rewarding work:
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY – We have a new volunteer opportunity for
photography. We are looking for volunteers to take digital
pictures of cemeteries and churches in the St. Louis area.
This project team leader will be Don Wallace.
CEMETERY DATA – We need help with data entry and proofreading
of Greenwood Cemetery, Laurel Hill and other smaller cemeteries.
Cemetery data entry and proofreading may be done at the society
or at your home. The contact person is Mary Ryan at this e-mail
address: <>. Or call her at (314) 647-8547.
GENERAL OFFICE WORK – Routinely, a board member asks if there is
a volunteer available to do something. For anyone who is willing
to try to do most anything, we could use your help at the office.
When not busy with a special request, you could be proofreading
for the cemetery project or helping with the Parkin Papers (see
below).
PARKIN PAPERS – Genealogy work of Robert Parkin on St. Louis
families, both pre and post statehood. Work at home or at the
StLGS office:
** At Home: Computer data entry of names and places from Family
Group Sheets and from Robert Parkin’s typewritten narratives.
** At the Office: Help with organizing the files, possibly scan
some group sheets, or enter data on a computer.
ARTICLES FOR THE "StLGS Quarterly" – Do you like to write? Do you
have a St. Louis family that you have researched that may be of
interest to others? Is there a St. Louis structure, community,
business or time period that interests you? We are looking for
articles for the "Quarterly" and would appreciate your input.
THANKS TO OUR VOLUNTEERS! Thanks to the many hours our wonderful
volunteers have contributed to data collection and data entry,
walking cemeteries, scanning documents, and numerous other tasks.
StLGS has done some awesome work to help preserve St. Louis history.
The work is never ending, but very rewarding. It is especially nice
to be able to see some of the fruits of our labor in both the office
and on our website. The Society is making a difference thanks to all
of our volunteers!
