Second attempt to try and reply to this, if it ends up as a duplicate post my
apologies.

Just to add to John's comments regarding the DNA project.

Only a few days ago an administrator for one of the larger surname projects was
bemoaning on another mailing list how the expectations generated by early results
in surname projects was not being born out as more people joined in.

This IS NOT our experience, quite the opposite in fact :)

As our project grows we are finding almost all participants fit into a small no. of
groups. Most often there are no paper trails connecting these people together and
we would not have learnt of these connections without the help of the DNA project.

We are in this happy position because of the no. of Stedmans who have already
joined the project and as more lines join the more we will learn !!

All the best

Dave

Zoe,

The family of John Truscan Stedman was very large - 14 children, most
lived. But they were only one of many Stedman families that lived in Indiana.

I have about 100,000 Stedmans, descendants, and allied families in my
database. And I am nowhere near done.

The key to sorting out many Stedman lines is DNA. David and I are
making extraordinary progress in sorting families out. Our principal
aim right now is getting more people to join the project.

HOPEFULLY, we will have a descendant of Isaac Stedman of Biddenden
submit their sample before the end of the year so we can answer once
and for all if the Connecticut Stedmans (your family) are related to
him or not.
