Zoe,
First, I have been a member of FindaGrave.com for many years. I use
it all of the time as a resource and highly recommend it to everyone
on this list. Everyone doing any research should join and contribute.
How to contribute:
When you add a burial record to your genealogy, check findagrave.com
to see if the person has already been added.
If so, check the information and send an edit to the person who added
the record to update the record with details you might have. If you
are a close relative, the owner might agree to transfer maintenance
responsibility to you.
If not, add the memorial.
If you go to a cemetery, take a lot of pictures of headstones - any
headstones - and then add them to existing memorials on the cemetery
site or create a new memorial.
Volunteer to take pictures of headstones. Every so often, I will get
an email to visit a nearby cemetery and take a picture of a headstone
to add it to someone's memorial.
I have found information on Stedmans and others from all over the US.
I even have gotten some info from overseas, but there findagrave has
not caught on yet as well.
In point of fact, the memorials you mention, I found on findagrave
and submitted updates on this family to the owner and the updates
have already been added.
