Hazleton Standard-Speaker, June 3, 1968
Mrs. C. Gertrude Blakeslee, a resident of Star Route, White Haven, died at
the family home Saturday after being ill for several months. Mrs. Blakeslee
was born in Blakeslee, daughter of the late George and Maria Casterline
Starner and had been a life-long resident of Blakeslee area. She was a member
of the Blakeslee Methodist Church and had served as a school director in
Bucks Township. For many years she was employed by the Albert E. Lewis
estates. Surviving are children Lloyd and Willard, Mrs. Maurice Kresge and
Mrs. Wilma Dyer, all Shades Glen; Paul of Blakeslee; Mrs. Leon Knorr, Bear
Creek; 21 grandchilden; 32 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held from
the Blakeslee Methodist Church Tuesday at 2 with interment in the church
cemetery.

Stewart Edward Starner born 24 June 1867 Thornhurst, Lackawanna, Pa died 22
January 1940 White Haven, Luzerne, Pa. Was a laborer for Lehigh Valley
Railroad.(L.V.R.R.) Wife was Avis May Smith born 23 February 1876 in Glen
Summit, Luzerne, Pa. His parents were George Starner born in USA and Maria
Casterline born in USA. Avis was a house wife. Her parents were Aaron Smith
born in Tobyhanna, Monroe, Pa and Rebecca Margerum also born in Tobyhanna,
Pa. Avis died 3 June 1945.
