Subject: [SPAIN-L] translators--forgot to mention

Translators literally translate the words not phrases..
if no direct word is available it remains in the origina.
example: in Colorado there is Mesa Verde--the
translator would translate it as green table..
Found a Salazar in South America I think....
the name was something like
Catelina de las Cadinas... (Catelina of the chains)
or like my bapismal name..
Maria de la Gloria (Mary of the Gloria)
Maria de la Refugio----Mary of the Refuge..
But translators at least give one an idea of what the
author is stating!
