Regarding Herkimer Co.,NY - I think my great great grandfather Henry
(Heinrich) Snell (Schnell) brought his family to Herkimer Co. about
1880 or so. His wife was Amelia (Emilie) Beltz/Peltz. The family
immigrated from Germany (I think Hessen). Children were Otto, Mary,
Lena, Rose, Kathryn. They left NY and went to Michigan where son Henry
Jr. was born. By the late 1800's the family was living in Lake County
Ohio.
I believe Henrys father was Phillipe. Listed on the ships manifest
was another Snell - William Snell. Altho I have not been able to tie
him in to my family. Do you know if this C.R. Snell had other family
in Herkimer Co.?
