For Christopher Smithson:
I'm doing research on the SMITHSON family from Facit, Rochdale, near
Manchester, in northern England in the 1700s and 1800s. My great-great aunt,
Emma SPENCER, married Thomas Smithson, who was, I think, a cotton
manufacturer or, in any case, in the cotton industry. They lived in Facit.
If you have any ANY information on this branch of the famiyl, I'd be
grateful for help.
Good wishes,
Mary Jane Phillips (formerly Mary Jane Phillips-Matz, but I use my maiden
name now)
