In the PAST PAGES column in the Dec. 31, 2007 Nevada Appeal:

70 Years Ago in Carson City, NV.
William P. Jones, who served a term in the Ormsby County jail on a charge of forgery involving a government check, was caught in the act of burglarizing the Safeway Store?? Officer SMITHSON kept watch last evening and when he saw a hat-covered head rise from behind a bench in the store, ordered : "Come out of there."? Jones obeyed and came out with hands in the air.

NOTE: Ormsby Co. is now Carson City, Co.
Does anybody know who this Smithson was.? There was a Bart Smithson in Ely but he went to prison for killing a police officer so I doubt it was him.?
