You didn't give dates for your Seth & Rachel Slawson, and at first I thought
it might be my Seth Slawson. Alas, no.

My Seth is Seth Holcomb Slawson born July 31, 1850, Whitesite County IL,
died August 21, 1926 in Jackson Co. MO. He married Emma Jane Patch (1853-1918)
November 15, 1871, in Whiteside County. My Seth's mother was Rachel M
Fuller Chase Slawson (1810-1884); her 2d husband was Jesse D Slawson (1809 -
?after 1884), and I'm still trying to find when he died and where.

Children of Seth & Emma Jane Slawson were
Sarah Jane "Sadie" Slawson Chinn,
Bertha May Slawson Howard,
Harrison "Harry" Slawson,
Stanley Howard Slawson, and
Eleanor Slawson Champion

and I keep hoping to stumble across some of their descendants. These folks
must have hid whenever the census takers came around. I know they lived
in Illinois, Nebraska, southeast Kansas and then northeast Kansas, and that
they were driven out of Nebraska by one of the grasshopper plagues. They are
proving to be very hard to trace.
