Susan, There was a John Sheridan as head of a family of 3, listed as having
received assistance in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, in 1842. Could this
be your John Sheridan? No other names were listed. This is from a book in
my local library, title unfortunately forgotten.

I'm still trying to find MY g-g-grandfather also named John Sheridan. He and
wife Julia Davis had a son, Henry, in Dover, NH in 1850.
