CHESTER GARFIELD BARBRICK married my great-aunt Emma Matilda Broadhurst, after 1901, probably in NS. They had no children. I have not been unable to find anything about Chester or his family.

However I was able to find him listed in the 1901 NS census at Maitland, HANTS, NOVA SCOTIA, listed as "adopted son" in the family of Thomas ROBSON, record as follows:

Robson Thomas, head, b. 15 Feb 1844, age 57
Robson Elizabeth, wife, b. 20 Dec 1837, age 63
Monteeth Joseph, son-in-Law, single, b. 27 Jul 1865, age 35
Barbrick Chester, adopted son, single, b. 26 Sep 1881, age 19
Sewell John, adopted son, single, b. 15 Jun 1889, age 11

So John Sewell was adopted, just as my Chester Barbrick, and that has made this search tedious and difficult.

Does anyone witha connection with Sewell have any information that might help shed some light on the adoption or the reason for an adoption?
