Subject: [SE-TN] William "Buck" & Malinda S. Lawson

Hello all,

I am looking for information regarding the parentage and siblings of
William "Buck" Lawson, b abt 1795, one side or the other of that, and
said to have been born in Tennessee -- and Malinda S. Lawson, b abt
1818-1825, said to have been born in Tennessee.

Both of these individuals are a complete mystery.

William "Buck" Lawson is shown in the Calhoun Trading Post ledger of
Lewis Ross as being in McMinn County, TN by 1825 and this is the first
real sighting of Buck. He is shown in the 1830, 1840, and 1850 census
for McMinn, Meigs, and McMinn Counties, TN respectively. He then
disappears, thought to have died somewhere between 1850 and 1860.

Malinda S. Lawson gave her name as Melinda Shelton on her marriage
license, don't know if Malinda was her first or middle name and don't
know if she took her mother's maiden name or if she was married prior to
her marriage to Charles Martin in July, 1839.

Malinda's parents are said to be James and Elizabeth Lawson, both born
Tennessee. Malinda and Charles left McMinn, TN right after their
marriage and are next shown in the Franklin County, MO census for 1840
and 1850. Living nearby is Zebedee Shelton. Charles and Malinda then
went to Miller County, Missouri where they lived and died.

Nathan Lawson b abt 1775 in VA may be the line of or related to both
William "Buck" and Malinda Lawson. Nathan's line has a number of James,
William and Malinda given names - and some James in this line have not
been fully identified. This Nathan Lawson and his son, James Matt
Lawson both went to Miller County, Missouri - Nathan died in Miller
County, and James Matt died just five or so miles away and just across
the Maries County, Missouri countyline.

If you have any information on these folks, even if you think it is
wrong or information of a negative sort, please let me know -- even a
negative can be a help. Any help at all greatly appreciated. Shirley
