Subject: [SE-TN-L] Thomas Lawson married to Susan Lawson - Tennessee
Date: Sun, 28 Mar 1999 21:31:25 -0600

Below is my Lawson line - there seems to have been some Lawson's in
SouthEast Tennessee. This is probably where my line comes from. John
Lawson served in the Civil war and was born in Meigs county, TN. His
parents were Thomas and Susan Lawson Lawson. John was born in 1841 and
there seems to be an old family of Lawson's in Meigs County. I would say
that his dad Thomas was kinda old when John was born. If Thomas was 40 when
John was born, Then Thomas would have been born around 1800 (probably
looking for a Thomas born in 1790-1810 range. Any help?? See a couple of
census records and what I have on Lawson's. Any ideas on what to do next.
I'm stuck here.

Remarks...
John was a farmer who lived 1 1/2 miles west of Taylorville, Tennessee. John
married the second time to Emma Brooks (61727135) daughter of Hiram
(71358000) and Winnie McNabe Brooks (71368000). John and Emma were married
in 1870. John Riley Lawson was by first wife, Elizabeth, while rest of
children are by second wife. There may have been another son, Levi, but I
don't know how he fits in. Brooks and McNabes live close to or just inside
the Maury County, Tennessee line. It was told to me by my mother that she
heard that John came home from the war (Civil war?) with a McNabe man and he
later married his sister, Elizabeth. The children are listed below:
1.John Riley Lawson (see below)
2.James (Jim) Lawson born in 1873, married to a lady called Aunt Fannie.
3.Josh Lawson born March 13,1874 and married Nannie Ballard born July
14,1874. Josh farmed in Taylorville with his father. Nancy Louvenia Ballard
was born July 14,1874 in Maury County and died February 12, 1957 in Texas.
She was the daughter of James Milton Ballard, Jr. (born December 25, 1836
in Maury County and died September 6, 1902 in Lewis County) and Mary
Elizabeth Runion (born May 5, 1836 in Maury County and died January 30, 1926
Ellis County, Texas). James Ballard and Mary Elizabeth Runion married
September 11, 1858 in Lewis County.
4.Sidney Lawson born in 1878 and married Marion Hill, they lived in
Texas
5.Amanda Lawson (Mandy) may have died young.
6.Lou Francis Lawson born May 2,1889 and married William Elmer Randles
(Randells)
7.Lillie Lawson died young.
8.Levi Lawson was a short man who died fairly young.
9.Suzie Lawson one of the oldest and was the first to move to Texas,
