J.D. Collins (real name, Jason Brakke) grew up in Kennebec, South Dakota. He graduacted from Lyman High School in Presho in 1979. He then graduated from the Brown Institute in Minneapolis, MN in 1980 and has been doing what he loves ever since.

J.D. has worked at the following radio stations: KORN Mitchell, SD; KWYR Winner, SD; KFOR Lincoln,NE; WIXX Green Bay, WI; WGEE Green Bay, WI; KIZZ Minot, ND; KYNN Omaha, NE.

He got tired of paying high taxes and having to drive 700 miles for hunting with friends and decided to move back to South Dakota for good in 1994. J.D. programmed KKLS while the station was oldies...after a format switch he moved to KIKN 100.5 and it's the best move he ever stumbled into.

"I love the format and I love the people that I get to talk to everyday on the phone. Most of all, I love the freedom to 'do what I do, how I do it' every day on KIKN. I especially enjoy the KIKN Country cafe, a noon-time request hour."

J.D. has been married 16 year to wife Cindy, originally from Tyndall, and are truly back home now. They have 3 boys: Jake, 12 - Logan, 9 - Tad, 5.

Some of J.D.'s hobbies include camping, water skiing, basketball and also coaches pee-wee football. His passion is the outdoors and outdoor activities which include pheasant hunting.
