In 1930, Aurora Co., SD, there were Albert V. DEPUE, b. ca. 1877, & Irma H., b. ca. 1887.
In 1880, Monona, Clayton Co., IA, there were A. N. DEPUE, 35, IA NY NY; wf. Susan, 24, NH; & ch (listed as b. NH, but b. Iowa) Maud, 8; Albert, 4; & S. H., 1.
I believe that's your Albert with parents Austin DEPUE & Susan JAMES, married in Volney, Allamakee Co., IA, 1870. Austin patented land in Sec. 17, Twp. 104 - 64, Aurora Co., SD, 1890. They moved to Harrington, Lincoln Co., WA, ca. 1903. There was no DEPUE there in 1930, but there were some in King and Franklin. Samuel, b. ca. 1879, of Franklin Co., might have been S. H., 1 in 1880.
Austin was son of Austin T. DEPUE & Orpha CUMMIN(G)S, m. 11 Feb. 1841, Stephenson Co., IL {IL m. file online}. She was dau/o Wm. CUMMINGS & Betsey WILTSE, who moved to Wood/Lucas Co., OH, and by 1840 to Stephenson Co., IL. In Feb. 1841, S. CUMMINGS, wf., & 3 ch. moved to Monona. A daughter who had been born the prevous November in Giard later became Mrs. Oscar COLLINS. Mr. CUMMINGS d. 1843, and the widow m. P. P. OLMSTED, who had built the first hewed log house in Monona and sold to A. T. DEPUE. In 1880, Monona: P. P. OLMSTED, 61, VT; wf. Hannah, 64, NY; Phin P., 25, IA. In 1850, A. T. DEPUGH & Orpha had Alma, 8 [b. 1840?] & son aged 6 [illegible, must be Austin].
I believe Susan was dau/o Samuel H. JAMES, 59 in 1880, b. NH, & Eliza Jane DOW, 54, NH. Their son Albert JAMES died fairly young , and his widow and ch. are on the 1880 Census, Monona: Mary M., 31, IRE; ch. b. IA: Albert W., 9; Charlotte M., 6; Eva, 5; Irene 3; & Horace E., 1. Samuel's bio is in the History of Clayton Co.
