**Fatal Accident Near Portpatrick. - A fatal accident, accompanied by circumstances of a sad and pathetic character, occurred on Monday at the farm of Spittal, near Portpatrick, tenanted by Mr James Downie. David McDowall, a servant employed there, was in the harvest field leading corn, when the horse took fright and took off. In his efforts to restrain the animal, McDowall was knocked down, and the wheel of the loaded cart passed over his body killing him on the spot. He was a married man with nine children, several of whom are at present laid down with fever. He had his residence at Dinvin. During the hour in which the accident happened a daughter died, and before the mother had risen from the bedside of her dead child, the intelligence was brought to her that her husband, the bread-winner of the family, was killed.
