Hi, Mary Lou,
Your Hamilton Stewart was living at a farm called Crosherie
near Kirkcowan, Wigtownshire when he died. I have copied the inscription
from the headstone in the cemetery at Kirkcowan because I was researching my
Stewarts who used to live at Crosherie but yours were there much earlier
than mine. Not connected, I think. The inscription might not tell you
anything you don't already know, but I will send it anyway:
John Stewart, Crosherie
in memory of his wife Janet Murray died 1878 aged 67
also
Peter, died, Toronto 1872 aged 38
also
John Stewart, Crosherie died 1882 aged 74
also
son John, Ontario 1895 aged 55
also
daughter Mary, wife of William McKie died Liverpool 1904
aged 84
also
Jean Gordon, wife of Hamilton Stewart died Crosherie 1907
aged 73
also
Hamilton Stewart 1920 aged 87
