Elizabeth McWHIRTER is one of my brick walls. I know from census records
and her MI that she was born 3 Jan 1800. Using that, I
searched the online IGI and only came up with one possibility. An
Elizabeth McWHIRTER, daughter of David McWHIRTER and Hellen
CREDDIE, was christened 11 Jan 1801. I'd love to think the 1801 was a
transcription error and that it should really read 1800.
On the other hand, not everyone got baptized right after they were born.
Hope you can shed some light on this :-)

Hi Mary,
Sorry to do this, but the IGI christening date for your Elizabeth McWHIRTER
is correct, according to the Whithorn OPR.
1794 / McWhirter / Agnes Daughter of David Labourer, at Cutclog & his
lawful Wife June 20 1994.
1797 / McWhirter / John Son of David Labourer, and Ellen McCreddie his
Lawful Wife April 4th.
1801 / McWhirter / Elizabeth Daughter of David Laborer, & Hellen Creddie
his lawful Wife 11 January.
1802 / McWhirter / David Son of David Laborer, and Ellen Creddie his lawful
Wife 22d Febry.
1805 / McWhirter / Robert Son of David Laborer, and Ellen McCreddie his
lawful Wife 27 Feby 1805.
1806 / McWhirter / Thomas Son of David Laborer, Nelly Creddie his lawful
Wife 8 Septr 1806.
The Whithorn OPR has lots of baptism entries made at later dates, but that
one for Elizabeth McWHIRTER is in a section of the register that runs in
chronological order.

Bruce
