In response to your prompt I have been steadily moving along but getting
nowhere special. I am frustrated by the lack of pre-1855 records for
Melness in particular. Is there anywhere a record of deaths/burials.

I have chased up one link of a great aunt Janet b Skinnet in 1855 who George
Mackay from Skerray - but the certificate says Jessie - in Thurso if that
rings any bells with anyone.
