Alfred HEMUS appears in the 1881 Census, Tongue Village. What an
intriguing name! Household consists of

Georgina MORRISON, Head, Annuitant, Widow, 80 (b.Tongue)
Mina MORRISON, Daur, Annuitant, 57 (b.Tongue)
Alfred HEMUS, grandson, scholar, 15 (b.Tongue)

Rushed transcribing during an intensive day at Register House, apologies
for any errors/omissions. What a fascinating story - Alfred was Mina's
illegitimate (and very late!) baby. No father was declared at birth, but
Fred used his father's name throughout his life. Was the name really
H-E-M-U-S ? It seems unique to Fred!
