I would be interested in any suggestions that you may come up with as I have
hit a very big brick wall, I had hoped that the 1901 census may have knocked
it down or at least crimbled it a bit but it didn't.
The 1901 census states that my Gt Grandmother was born in Yarmouth, Suffolk
and that she was 29 years old. This puts her birth around 1872.
Her marriage certificate in 1899 staes that she was 27 and her father was a
fisherman deceased. Again her birth about 1872.
Her death certificate in 1955 says that she was 78 which puts her birth at
When dad was a kid she used to take him to Kessingland in Suffolk and
Peebles in Scotland every year on holiday, this leads me to think that there
is a connection here somewhere but I can't find it.
A search of the 1881 census from 1865 to 1885 reveals only 4 possibilities
WILSON, Helen H. Dau <1870> Birth: Engl
Census: Lana Barony
Father is named Thomas an Inland Revenue inspector, wife Charlotte and 2
other children also born in England.
WILSON, Helen H. Dau <1874> Birth: Engl
Census: Dumf Cummertrees
No father listed, mothers name Jessie Nevin a former nurse who is unmarried.
can find no link between Cummertrees and Peebles which are about 60miles
WILSON, Helen Dau <1876> Birth: Suff Leiston
Census: Suff Leiston
This one is Helen Grace Wilson born 24th August 1875 @ Leiston, father is
Frederick Wilson, mother formerly PELLS
WILSON, Helen GDau <1876> Birth: Engl
Census: Ayr Tarbolton
This one is Helen Strathdee WILSON, d/o William Strathdee WILSON and his
I've also searched Ellen but again can't find a common link.
So any suggestions, thoughts or theories would be greatly appreciated
