Hi Jill,
I was really just checking the info that came from Jo's book. It would be
odd that someone was in Van Dieman's land that early and not involved in the
convicts. I had just gone through the Census, and realised if he was in
both 1841 and 1851 and that was a quick turnaround - but possible. BUT you
never know. But as you say the Allan McLean that was out here was here
earlier so not him. Funnily enough, there is no records of who he was just
his name and ship records, that date he went before the court was there
though.
I know some did return as a friend of mine finally got through a brick wall
be discovering one of her ancestors had returned back to Scotland after
transportation.
