Merle & Ida and Ruth,
I am responding to your latest post regarding Mac/McCormick ancestors in Glasgow, Lanard census. I have to think that some of these McCormicks are related to my family because they begin to appear in places other than Mull and Iona after the 1841 census. My g-g grandparents, John and Mary (McFarlane) McCormick were married at Iona on December 19, 1846, had a son and emigrated to Canada sometime after 1847 and before 1851. If we could find some record of John and Mary at Iona and/or Mull, I think we could link your McCormicks to mine.
On a note of interest, my wife's Galt family came to the U.S. from Ayr.
