I am wondering if anyone on the list knows a woman in Scotland named
Margaret Bain. Apparently she possesses a diary of Charles Macquarie
(brother of NSW Governor Lachlan Macquarie) and I am hoping to contact her
about it. A cousin of mine found out about the diary quite a long time ago
(ca 1988) because he subscribed to the West Highland Notes & Queries, to
which Margaret used to contribute articles.

If anyone knows or knows of her, and if she is alive and well, would it
possible for you to provide contact details, or at least point me in the
right direction? Any suggestions welcome off list at
