McGillivray, McLean & McQuarrie query:

I have recently returned to research of this branch of my family and have joined the list in the hope that someone has more knowledge of them and me.



My ggg grand parents are Malcolm McGillivray (various spellings) and Catherine McLean.



Malcolm was born about 1793 on Mull, son of John McGillivray (crofter); died in Oban in 1875.



Catherine was born about 1785 on Mull, daughter of Hector McLean (ag lab) and Ann McQuarrie; died Oban 1870.



They appear to have married about 1808.



They had two children before moving to Oban area. Euphemia (McGilvra) born 1809 in Kenloch/Kinloch, parish of Kilfinchen and Kilvickeon and Charles in the same parish 1811.



Other children born after their move to the mainland: Sarah 1813, Hector 1814 (my gg grandfather), Donald abt 1816, Annabella 1820, Hugh abt 1827, Angus 1829.



Malcolm is listed as a seaman, sea captain, grocer's porter and labourer.
