Hi June,
You are right I have already seen that entry for Christina MacArthur but did not think it could be my Christina because of the wrong name.
You are right though it could be her.
This website http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/ gives details of shipping to Victoria, Australia and it also gives the ages of passengers.
Christina MacArthur was 16 years old when she was on the Maitland so she was exactly the correct age.
But, how would I ever be able to prove that it was her or not?
As far as I know when she was in Australia she went by the name McInnes until her marriage to Robert Hart.
Thank you for your imput. It helps to look at things from all angles.
I will keep pondering this one.
Kind regards
Joy

Hi Joy,
You may have checked this already but just in case.
There was a Christina MacArthur travelling alone on the 'Maitland' on the
same voyage as Dugald and Mary. The website I looked at does not give
her age but if she was born 1832/33 that would have made her 16/17 and
it is possible that with a different surname, she may not have been entered
along with the rest of her family.
Might be worth a look.
June
