Jean found the McFarlanes in Proton as you suggested as follows:
1881 Census Proton.Grey East,Ont.
McFarlane Alex -70-Baptist wife Mary-70 C. Presbyterian
The children ,Donald 31,Catherine -24 Pres.,Mary Ann-21 Pres. and a Mary
McConnel
6 -Pres.
Hector was also a Baptist .It might be ahelp finding people if any of you
could post
baptists on Mull.
