Hi Bonnie,

McLain, McLean, etc did not come just from the Isle of Mull. In broad
terms they came from areas adjacent to the Great Glen ie from Oban north
to Inverness.

I have just checked the Maclean.org database and regret that there is no
trace of a Patrick McLain.

I think you are going to have to check any Irish records that exist in
order to obtain Patrick father and mothers names in order to make any
progress.
