Hi Heather

From a quick scan of the results of a Google search, I found the
following re: 42d Regiment's involvement in the American conflict:

1 May, 1776 - Sailed for America.
3 August, 1776 - Regiment landed on Staten Island.
27 August, 1776 - Battle on Long Island and Brooklyn.

My suggestion would be to look into the Regiment's history and records,
newspapers around the above dates, etc

You may never find a shipping/passenger list but may be lucky enough to
find a mention of the regiment departing/arriving

> Hi: I am interested in finding out what ship Archibald MacLean (son of Hector and Julia MacLean) left Mull in to come to the U.S. in 1774. In Whyte's book of Scottish to America he states that Archibald MacLean b. 1758 sailed from Isle of Mull with the 42nd Regiment to New York. I looked online and saw info re: two ships that sailed - one being the Oxford. Could anyone help me find out what ship Archibald came to New York on. Also any info about the 42nd Regiment would be great!

> Hector Campbell age 47
> John Campbell 15
> Allan Campbell 17
> Donald Cambell 12
> Sarah Campbell 8
> No mention of either Catherine (presumed decd) or Charles born 1837. Did find record of daughter Marrian Campbell born 21.4.1842 - she and Marrian must be one and the same with a mix up somewhere over her Christian name.

> Dear Linda I am very eager to to take up membership.I have recently contacted my relatives in Canada who have sent me a family tree which I would like to sent a copy to your group.I am also adding to the story. The story begins with Hector Francis Campbell born Mull 1805 died 90 and is buried in Lovat cemetery Bruce County Ont. Can. he married Catherine Fletcher in Kilfinchen in 1832 but she must have died before the family migrated in the 1840's.My ggrandfather Donald was one of the chideran.I have a good family picture of Donald and his family which I will also send.Right now I am following a lead of Ronald Campbell and his wife Marion Mclean who are probably Hectors parents. Will send money and family tree and stories.
