Sandy,
There were no Joe’s in our family but there were and still are other Blacks
in the Priceville area. I recently met a Malcolm Black who is living one or
two roads north of the Durham road and his father Charles is also still
living and farming their original homestead. But they are not from Mull.
They seem to be connected with McDonalds from a more northern island than
Mull. Maybe Joe is one of them?
Malcolm

Malcolm
I spoke with my aunt today, who is a McEachern. She told me that my
grandfather(who passed away in 1966 at the age of 76) knew a Joe Black.
This Joe Black played the fiddle at various events in the Priceville and
surrounding areas. Was he related to you?

Hi Sandy,
My Grandfather Malcolm Black was on lot 14 and his brother John A. was on
lot 13. Their father Archibald Black built the first school at Bunnessan and
taught in it as well. They would certainly have known neighbours 6 lots
away!

Good Day
Yes it does ring a bell with me. Where the Bunesson school is, is very
close to where my McCormicks lived on Lot 20 NDR. My McEacherns knew the
Blacks.

Good Evening,
You mentioned the Beaton sisters who settled on the Durham Road in pioneer
times. My Great Grandfather Archibald Black settled on the north side of the
Durham Road where the Bunnessan School is located. He had a sister Effie
(Euphemia, b1813) who married a Beaton and had two children Duncan and
Flora. It is most likely that she married Beaton on Iona or Mull. Beaton
died and she married Archie Sinclair with whom she begat Dan and Neil.
Does any of this ring any bells for anyone?

Good Day
I have the information regarding Rodderick McEachern who married Annie
McKinnon. They are my gr grandparents. I have been to their homestead from
time to time since I was a kid.
Dougald McCormick from Iona is probably related to the McCormicks that I
know from the Priceville area. There is another Dougald McCormick who
married Sarah McLaughlin that lived near Priceville too. They are buried in
the Priceville Cemetary with their daughter Sarah. I have seen the
gravestone. This Dougald McCormick is connected to my McCormicks and is the
son of the McCormick who married one of the Beaton sisters, who settled on
the Durham Road on the south side about half was between Durham and
Priceville in the pioneer times, when she remarried to a McDonald.

They lived in the Priceville area. Is this your family?
I also have a marriage for a Roderick McKechnie born 1851 Vaughan son of
Alexander and Janet McKechnie who married Ann McKinnon of Glenelg. I have
names and dates for their children if you want to email me privately.
