Thanks very much for the marriage date for Malcolm MacPhail
& Catherine Black, I didn't have that. Yes, the family at
Moy, Ardura and Oskamull (1861 & 1871) seem to be the same
family and the ones I was looking for.
Additional info is:
Malcolm MacPhail died 21/6/1879 at Oskamull age 89
Catherine Black died between 1845-1851 (last son, Archibald,
born in 1845 - no info on Archibald so far)
Malcolm MacPhail & Catherine Black's children:
DONALD b. 1831 m Jane CURRY (Currie) d/o John Curry + ?.
Donald died 1899 at Tobermory, 68 years. Jane died 1911,
Tobermory, 78 years. Suspect no issue.
HUGH b. c. 1837 died 1858 aged 21. Suspect fathered son,
John, to Catherine MCKINNON, Morven, in 1856. Buried
JOHN b. 1843 m. Catherine McMILLAN 12/12/1883 at Tyree
(Catherine d/o John McMillan & Christina MacLEAN).
John died 1895 aged 52 at Tiroran
Catherine died 1942 at Bunessan aged 85
John & Catherine's children:
Malcolm b.1885, Tyree
Catherine b.1884, Tyree
Christina b.1888, Kilfinichen
Ewan Archibald (Hugh) b. 1890, Kilfinichen
That's as far as I've got with this family so far.
I'm not sure about your Neil MacPhail - I only have a couple
of Neils but one died pre 1855. What year was your Neil
with Hugh McArthur?
