Hi Ian,

As a result of a reply to my George Fyfe voyage to Australia posting, I
have realised that there is more information on another of the Mull
families on the boat that I have in my records. I know nothing further
about any of these people who are not directly related to me. The
information is also confirmed by Jo Currie's Mull Family Names.

MCDONALD, Roderick, b. Mull: ploughman, 27 (parents John MCDONALD and
Isabella CAMERON) accompanied by his wife Bell (Isabella), b. Mull, 28,
daughter of Neil FERGUSSON and Mary MCD-LL-, also ex "Mull."


I have probable further information on the FERGUSSON family. According
to Jo's book, Niel may be the shoemaker Niel FERGUSSON buried in the
Calgary churchyard (recorded on the Mull site). He was born about 1771
and died 8 January 1837. A tombstone mentions his son Archibald, who is
not in my list of children, but I may have overlooked him. On the LDS
site there is a probable church member-submitted entry for him aged 40
marrying a Janet MCLEAN on 6 December 1859.


Mary McD_ll_: Assuming this surname to be MCDOUGALL alias Mary MCLUCAIS
(MCLUCAS): Mary married Niel FERGUSSON some time before 1808, possibly
in Penmore, because that is from where some of the family records come,
and they had at least 10-12 children. (These names and dates of
christenings are from the OPRs as recorded by the LDS and more details
could be obtained from anyone who has access to the fuller entries in
the Kilnian and Kilmore OPRs.) The names I have in my McLucas database are:


Isabella chr. 4 January 1808 married Roderick MCDONALD and emigrated to
Australia on the George Fyfe 1839 voyage; 2 known children born and
registered in Australia - Mary and Isabella - both died as infants in
1844 and 1846.
