Hullo Ida and List, I hope I'm not hitting the site too much but I just
wanted to share this information. I'm gradually tracking down the children
of Archibald McDonald and Margaret Currie who were at Soriby Ulva in the
1841 census. I am sure I've found their daughter Catherine born 1822,
working as a servant at Ulva Mansion House for Francis Clark. The household
makes interesting reading. Francis William Clark 40 proprietor of Ulva;
Agnes Clark 43, Francis Wm Clark 14, Francis Clark 63, Clementina Clark 64,
Helen Clark 22, Johanna Clark 20, Harriot Clark 18, Sally Lamont, female
servant (dairy) 30; Catherine McDonald 19, female servant. I think Catherine
had her work cut out looking after all those Clarks. The only marriage I can
find for a Catherine McDonald around the right time was to Neil Maclougas on
25 Nov 1844. Does anyone know this family? Regards, Helen Danes NZ
