Subject: Hugh Lamont (b 1808),son of Malcolm?

My wife is a Lamont. Family records give her gg
grandfather as Hugh Lamont (aka Ewen), b. 1808,
Pennycross, Mull. He, wife Ann (nee McFadyen) &
daughter Flora emmigrated to Prince Edward Island, CAN
in 1833.

From what I find online here, at
IsleOfMullAncestry.co.uk, at MullGenealogy.co.uk, & at
the online Old Parish Records, it seems he is the Hugh
born to Malcolm & Marion (Livingston aka McArthur)
Lamont, with OPR date 31 Jul 1808 at Beach,
Kilvickeon, Mull.

My wife & I will be attending the Mull Gathering in
May & I have several questions as we prepare for that
visit.

1. Is the date of an OPR birth (e.g. Hugh's 31 Jul
1808) that of baptism or birth - or do both occur
randomly on such records?

2. To hopefully clear up this question, where can
images of the original OPR be seen?

3. Where is there a list of cemeteries for
Kilfinichen & Kilvickeon Parish?

4. Where are there transcriptions for these
cemeteries?

5. For Hugh above, Beach is near Pennycross. Can
these be considered close enough to be the same place?
Administratively, was one presumed part of the other?

6. What were the churches on Mull in the 1750-1850
time period? All the Mull emigrants to PEI that I'm
researching list the Church of Scotland on their PEI
census records (and it seems a minority church - most
Scots list Presbyterian).

Walter Sadler for wife:
Linette Lamont (dau of Lawrence, son of Daniel, son of
Neil, son of Hugh & Ann McFadyen Lamont)
