Subject: 1841 Census for Fort William Invernesshire
Date: Tue, 4 Apr 2006 11:07:54 +1000
To those who contacted me, remember that ages on the Census could be 5
years either side of what is recorded.
The towns covered by the 1841 Fort William Free Census I transcribed,
and there are many more transcribers for other areas:-outside of Fort
William town/streets were:-
Ledchid-napraich , Lubert , Bridge of Nevis, Poulduth, Achriach,
Bullet Lane, Glen Nevis House, Stronenevis,
Rofse Parsonage, Heather Croft, Achintore and Upper Achintore,
Drimarbin, and Leitinchuil
A major part of the population was "Cameron" especially the villages
outside of Fort William itself.
I am sure Ian can add much to this discussion as he has been a major
transcriber for Argyllshire.
