Barbara: Before we have a run on the LDS order facilities, the Scottish
CD-Roms are NOT for sale to individuals. The British Vital Records Index is,
but it is NOT the same thing. BVRI is extractions done for all the British
Isles and is only part of the records available on microfilm.
Good explanation otherwise of the ins and outs of LDS films, fiche,
extractions, etc. Agree there are still mistakes and omissions. I found one
a few weeks ago in the civil registrations 1855-1875, almost thought the man
did not know his marriage date!
We both did not review the Pedigree Resource Files. These are the files
uploaded online to LDS computers and available for search online and on CD.
These are gedcoms from anyone anywhere who wants to have a permanent place
for someone to review their genealogy. Again, VERIFY, VERIFY, VERIFY. There
are some verrrry interesting ideas on these CDs. :-))
