Kelvin,I have sent your letter to the list for help from others, but then
remembered that I have the 1881 census,
There is a family there as follows:
Dwelling Arighlass
Census place Kilfinichen and Kilvickeon Argyll Scotland
Source FHL film 0203562 GRO Ref Volume 542 Enum Dist 8 page 2
Donald Beaton Head, Blacksmith, age 45 born Kilvickeon Argyll Scotland
Effy Beaton Wife, Blacksmiths wife age 43 born Tyreeparish. Argyll
Archibald Beaton son scholar age 12 born Iona Argyll
Niel Beaton son age 10 born Iona Argyll Scotland
Malcolm Beaton son scholar age 9 born Iona Argyll Scotland
Duncan Beaton son scholar age 5 born Iona Argyll Scotland
Cathrine Beaton daughter age 3 born Iona parish Argyll Scotland
Hugh Beaton son age 1 born Iona parish Argyll Scotland

There is another family in the 1881 census with a son Niel 6 born Kilninian
parish.
As the age looks better fort he first one I have only quoted the details for
it (I'm a lazy typist)

I have looked to find the father in the above family in the 1851 census.
There is one at
Ardtun Eorabus which could be yours though in another parts of the same
district
Donald 53 Cottar agr labourer
Christina 50 wife
Margaret 20 daughter servant
Donald 18 son agric labourer (this more or less matches the 1881 census as
age of 45)
Archie 13 son
Ann 8 daughter
John 5 son
Chursty 16 daughter

Hope this might be of some help. There are no Beatons at Arighlass in the
