In the research I have done on my Campbell ancestors in Halkirk, the one
thing that stood out was the fact that they all held education to be very
important, regardless of their social status. I believe that Scotland as a whole
felt that way historically. Even if they learned to read at home at night,
reading the bible as you say, I think they were all educated to some level.
