Searching for any information about Thomas CHISHOLM, reported to have been
(abt 1825-45) a builder and contractor on estate of Duke of Sutherland. He
died between 1845 and 1850, after which his business was run by his sons
and then sold to a Mr. DUNBAR.
His widow, Elizabeth PATERSON, reportedly sailed about May 1851 from
"Scouthel, Wick" to Canada, with their children: 1 William, 2 Robert, 3
James, 4 Jane b 1831, 5 Betsy, 6 Isabella, 7 Jessie, 8 Helen
What is/was "Scouthel"?
Are there records of tradesmen employed by the Duke of Sutherland? Would
the estate referred to above be Dunrobin?
Any researchers on CHISHOLM, PATERSON or DUNBAR in this area, please check
your records.
