John James Blair, who moved to Mobile Alabama, and who married Martha Ray, was the son of James Blair, brother of William Blair who was father of General James Blair.

The Camden Journal, 10 July, 1844:

"Died at the residence of Capt. Samuel Kelsey, in Marshall Co. Mississippi, on the 13th June, John J. Blair in his 52nd year of his age. The deceased was born in York Dist. South Carolina on the 12th of April 1793 and was reared in that and the neighboring District of Lancaster. At an early age he devoted himself to mercantile pursuits and after spending some years in Charleston, established himself at Camden, South Carolina where he resided about 18 years. He removed to Mobile, AL in 1836, and has resided amongst us until the period of his death. A kind father, and beloved son to the aged mother who yet survives him. Connected with the Presbyterian church under Dr. Hamilton. 2 years since, an affectionate daughter about 18 years of age was taken, and a few weeks since a most interesting son, about eight years of age. cc from Mobile Advertiser, 29th, ult."
